The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will seek re-election in 2027.
Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday while hosting members of the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum, Ganduje stated that Tinubu would secure a second term and lead Nigeria until 2031, after which power would shift back to the North.
“When a northern leader governed for eight years, we insisted that the next president from our party should come from the South,” Ganduje said.
The former Kano State governor added, “We worked tirelessly with Nigerians’ support. Our president is from the South and, insha Allah, he will win a second term in 2027. After that, power will return to the North.”
He assured the forum of the party’s commitment to mobilizing support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
During a separate meeting with the Tinubu Young Generation Forum at the APC headquarters, Ganduje emphasized that Tinubu’s ongoing reforms were essential for Nigeria’s socio-economic progress.
“Our president is performing excellently. He is a reformer, a visionary, and a focused leader. His reforms are crucial for the country’s social and economic development,” he said.
Ganduje noted that in defending Tinubu’s administration, “Many issues have accumulated over time, and bold measures are required to set things right.”
He also highlighted the National Working Committee’s (NWC) efforts to expand the party’s membership and ensure that the APC-led government implements its manifesto.
The support groups visited the APC headquarters to congratulate Ganduje on his appointment as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Chairman and discuss strategies for the 2027 elections.
