Femi Fani-Kayode, the Director of Special Media Operations of the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), on Thursday asked the Department of State Services (DSS) and other intelligence agencies to arrest top members of the opposition following Wednesday’s confirmation by the secret police that a section of the political class is planning for an interim government to truncate the smooth transition of power on May 29 from President Muhammadu Buhari to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Fani-Kayode’s call was made known in a statement he sent to this newspaper this morning (Thursday).
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former Minister named the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party; Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Ifeanyi Okowa, the vice-presidential candidate of the PDP; “and their numerous spokesmen, associates and foreign collaborators”, as some of those that needs to be arrested as soon as possible.
“They (the DSS) should arrest those that appear to be behind this evil plot including Peter Obi, Dati Baba Ahmed, Atiku Abubakar, Ifeanyi Okowa and their numerous spokesmen, associates and foreign collaborators in order to find out exactly what their role is in this matter and the part, if any, that they are playing in it.
“They should also identify, ascertain and arrest their collaborators, both foreign and local, in this treasonous plot. None of them enjoys immunity and none of them are above the law,” Fani-Kayode said.
