As we mourn his passing, our thoughts extend to his wife and children. May Allah grant Mal. Abdu Garba eternal rest in Jannah Firdaus and provide solace to his grieving family. Innalillahi wa’inna ilaihin raji’un.
Innalillahi wa’inna ilaihin raji’un – a somber acknowledgment of the departure of a distinguished leader. Today, we reflect on the life and impact of Mal. Abdu Garba, or Malam Abu Masscom, a beacon in the realm of Mass Communication.
My service year was marked by the privilege of working under his guidance at the Mass Communication Department of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria. Initially tethered to the leadership of Dr. Umar Sani Hanwa, Mal. Abdu Garba’s return from end of the year break, ushered in a transformative phase.
Beyond the professional realm, his leadership was characterized by warmth and camaraderie. “Malam kana lafiya” and the parting words “Malam Allah bamu alheri” weren’t mere greetings but reflections of his genuine concern for his team. His office discussions transcended work, emphasizing our well-being and fostering a sense of belonging.
Though initially attached to boss Umar Sani Hanwa, PhD, Mal. Abdu Garba’s influence gradually won me over. “NAGODE” – a simple expression of gratitude, encapsulates the invaluable lessons learned during our interactions.
A pioneer at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, he laid the groundwork for the Mass Communication Department in Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria, leaving an indelible mark on subsequent staff members. His subsequent move to Kaduna State University – KASU, reflected his commitment to educational advancement.
As we mourn his passing, our thoughts extend to his wife and children. May Allah grant Mal. Abdu Garba eternal rest in Jannah Firdaus and provide solace to his grieving family. Innalillahi wa’inna ilaihin raji’un.
Allah kai haske kabarinsa.
