While at Sauche Polling Unit 07 in the Katagum local government area where voting commenced earlier with a large turnout of voters, one of those in the queue, Saminu Saidu, said there was no issue with the election process.
Voting has begun at many polling stations across Bauchi State’s four state assembly constituencies, where a rerun election is being held.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the exercise began at 8:30 a.m. in the majority of polling units visited.
The Court of Appeal ordered a re-run election in the four state assembly constituencies.
The constituencies are Bauchi Central, Zungur/Galambi, Ningi 1, and Madara/Chinade.
NAN reports that in most of the polling units, accreditation and voting were going on simultaneously.
There was also a large number of voters in most of the polling units visited as the electorate turned out to cast their votes.
At Polling Unit 011, located in Unity College Bauchi, a voter, Hamisu Sani, said officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived early and the process has been smooth so far.
“We came here early, and we are happy the accreditation and voting is going on smoothly,” he added.
At Polling Unit 010 in Mararraban Liman Katagum, in Katagum Local Government Area, accreditation and voting also commenced early, with a large number of voters waiting to be accredited to cast their votes.
Similarly, a voter, Malam Nasiru Audu, who was on the queue at Rumfan Gwarmi Tsamiya Polling Unit 03, Ningi Local Government Area, said the election is going on peacefully in the polling unit.
“You can see the large turnout of men and women; it is like the women outnumber the men.
“This is because voters were adequately sensitised about the rerun election,” he said.

An INEC official there told NAN that they started the exercise as scheduled.
“We have started voting; you can see people on the line; everyone here will vote; the BVAS machine is very okay; I can assure you that everyone here will vote, and the result will be transmitted electronically to the server,” he said.
Audu Tanko, a politician, commended the electoral umpire and security agencies for the orderliness of the exercise. (NAN)
