Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has disclosed the motivation behind his decision to abstain from smoking weed, citing its association with anxiety.
The musician clarified that he gave up weed four years ago, because he was afraid of what lay ahead.
He stated that, contrary to notions that smoking weed enhances creativity, it wasn’t helping out in his own case.
He did however acknowledge that he still smokes cigarettes.
In the latest episode of the ‘In My Opinion‘ podcast, Bella Shmurda said:
“I don’t smoke igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future.
“So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor.”
“Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop. That was earlier in my career. It wasn’t helping.”
In another story, Bella Shmurda recounted how he stole keke because of money.
The video, which surfaced online, captured the artist reflecting on his journey to success and the hardships he encountered along the way.
Bella Shmurda disclosed that despite attempting various ventures, not all of them proved fruitful, leading him to make regrettable decisions.
The singer recounted a particular deal he signed in the past that did not work out as expected, leaving him disillusioned with the pursuit of success in the music industry.
Faced with financial struggles and the pressure to make ends meet, Bella Shmurda admitted that he resorted to stealing a keke in a bid to obtain the much-needed funds.
The artist expressed gratitude to God for guiding him through those tough times and for his current position in the industry.
