The All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 74th birthday, describing him as a seasoned leader whose contributions have shaped Nigeria’s democratic journey.

In a statement issued Sunday in Abuja  by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party said it was joining millions of Nigerians and supporters around the world in celebrating the president.

The party described Tinubu as a “veteran democrat, statesman and patriot,” noting that his leadership has continued to inspire confidence in the country’s future.

According to the APC, the administration has made significant progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in areas such as economic reforms, infrastructure development and institutional strengthening.

It also highlighted the ongoing social investment programmes, efforts to improve national security, and initiatives aimed at empowering young people and supporting workers and students.

The party said it is proud of what it described as Nigeria’s steady progress under Tinubu’s leadership, adding that the APC itself has grown into one of the most influential political platforms in the country since its formation in 2013.

Reaffirming its support for the president, the party said it remains committed to backing his efforts to reposition the country and drive sustainable development.

The APC also offered prayers for the president, wishing him continued good health, wisdom and strength as he leads the nation.

 …NSGF backs reforms

In a similar message, Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, reaffirmed the forum’s support for his administration and its reform agenda.

In a statement issued on behalf of his colleagues in the NSGF, Governor Yahaya described President Tinubu’s leadership as bold, focused and crucial to Nigeria’s long-term political and economic stability.

He said the president had shown strong determination since assuming office by pursuing major reforms aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening critical institutions.

The governor said “although some of the policy decisions may be difficult in the short term, they are necessary to build a more stable, productive and prosperous country.”

He noted that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda has continued to inspire confidence among Nigerians by providing a clearer pathway for inclusive growth, national unity and sustainable development.

Governor Yahaya said “the people of Gombe State, alongside other governors in the North, remain fully committed to supporting the President’s vision and ensuring the success of his policies across the country.”

“The bold and courageous decisions taken by Mr President reflect a leadership driven by conviction and a genuine desire to secure a better future for the nation. These reforms, though challenging, are already laying the groundwork for lasting progress,” he said.

The NSGF chairman also stressed that “governors in the region are united in backing the continuation of President Tinubu’s reform programme beyond the current administration.”

“We in Gombe State, together with our colleagues in the Northern States Governors’ Forum, acknowledge and deeply appreciate your support to subnational governments and your inclusive approach to governance. We stand firmly with you and reiterate our full and unflinching support for your leadership and vision, not only for the present but for the continuity of your transformative agenda into a second term,” the governor stated.

 …Idris lauds transformational leadership

Also, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris,  said President Tinubu as a leader with courage, whose commitment to making tough decisions has put the country on a path of recovery and growth.

The minister stated this Sunday  in a statement he personally signed to celebrate the President’s 74 birthday.

Idris lauded President Tinubu for his commitment to building a country that works for all.

…President recommits to national progress

And in a strong word of reassurance, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Nigerians for the goodwill messages and prayers he received on his 74th birthday,  reaffirming his administration’s commitment to reforms and national development.

In a personal birthday message to the nation Sunday, the president thanked citizens for their patriotism, solidarity and continued support for his administration, noting that the encouragement he has received from Nigerians remains a strong source of motivation for him and his team in government.

He also appreciated individuals and groups who placed congratulatory messages in newspapers and paid for radio and television airtime to celebrate with him, describing the gesture as deeply appreciated.

The president extended special appreciation to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her kind words, and Vice President Kashim Shettima for his remarks in honour of the president’s birthday.

President Tinubu explained that, in keeping with his personal tradition of reflecting the national mood, he chose to mark his 74th birthday quietly.

He noted that the occasion offered an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, particularly the challenges that have accompanied the reforms initiated by his administration.

According to him, “while the reforms have come with sacrifices, there are signs of progress and hope, despite temporary setbacks linked to the ongoing Middle East crisis,” which he said has had global economic implications.

He stressed that the gains recorded so far were not achieved by the government alone but through the collective efforts and resilience of Nigerians.

Tinubu said the shared sacrifices of citizens were beginning to yield positive results, expressing optimism that the country was on the path to recovery and growth.

The president expressed confidence that his government would succeed in building a brighter future for Nigerians and generations yet unborn.

He assured citizens that his administration remains determined to confront the country’s challenges and will continue to work towards a stronger, more prosperous and resilient nation.

…Donates salaries to Armed Forces Fund

As part of the quiet celebration, the president announced the creation of a special fund to support members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who were wounded in the line of duty, as well as the families of soldiers who died while serving the country.

The president said he had directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to establish a dedicated account for the fund.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at providing direct support to injured personnel, particularly those who lost limbs, and to widows, widowers and children of fallen soldiers.

As part of his personal commitment to the initiative, the President said all his salaries since assuming office would be paid into the fund as seed money.

He explained that the fund would complement existing insurance and welfare schemes for members of the armed forces, not replace them.

The president called on state governors, members of the National Assembly, the private sector and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative, noting that details of the account would be made public in due course.

He said the country must continue to remember and honour those who put their lives on the line to protect the nation, as well as the sacrifices made by their families.

The president described the initiative not as an act of charity, but as a duty owed to those who serve and have served the country with courage and sacrifice.

“On this my 74th birthday, I celebrate the valiant men and women of our Armed Forces. Today, I have directed the Accountant-General of the federation to establish a special account for a fund dedicated to those who serve, those wounded in the line of duty, and the families of those who have paid the ultimate price.

“As a personal commitment, all my salaries since assuming office will be paid into this account as seed funding, irrespective of existing insurance and welfare schemes for members of our armed forces. This fund will directly support those who have lost their limbs, and the widows, widowers, and children of those who laid down their lives in service to our dear country.

“I call on our Governors, members of the National Assembly, the private sector, my friends and all well-wishers to support this initiative. Details of the account will be made available in due course.

“We must never forget those who stand in harm’s way for our peace, nor the sacrifices borne by their families. This is not charity. It is duty. And we will fulfil it,” he said.
