Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has paid tribute to former Blues coach Enzo Maresca, praising the Italian’s ability to inspire belief and unity in the dressing room.
In comments shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard reflected on the atmosphere created under Maresca during his spell at Chelsea.
“We knew what Maresca wanted from us. Winning a title like the Club World Cup also helps… you create great relationships during the celebrations,” Cucurella said. “When a manager gives you that confidence and offers you a platform to fight for titles, you’d die for him.”
The defender’s remarks point to the strong bond forged between the squad and the former boss during his time at Stamford Bridge. Cucurella stressed that Maresca’s impact stretched beyond tactics and into the emotional core of the team.

The Argentina international had already caused concern after admitting he was unsure about his long-term future at Chelsea, prompting manager Liam Rosenior to defend him by saying the remarks came in the heat of the moment following Champions League disappointment.
During the international break, Fernandez reignited the discussion. “I’d like to live in Spain, I really like Madrid; it reminds me of Buenos Aires,” he said, referencing the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. “Players live where they want.
