A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has opined that the defection of former presidential candidate of New Nigeria’s Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the opposition party has dealt a heavy blow to President Bola Tinubu‘s 2027 re-election bid.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Eze, in a statement issued on Tuesday, described Kwankwaso as a thoroughbred, grassroots politician and crowd puller who believes in genuine democratic governance.
He commended Kwankwaso for joining the ADC, a party he claimed is on a mission to rescue Nigerians from a “clueless, nepotistic, wicked, undemocratic, and despotic government” led by President Tinubu.
According to Eze, ADC cannot afford to waste the glaring opportunity to oust Tinubu from office and urged members to unite ahead of their primaries.
He said, “By joining the ADC, Kwankwaso has dealt a heavy political uppercut blow to President Tinubu’s re-election bid. This defection, borne out of patriotism and the need to salvage the country from bad governance is a bad omen for Tinubu and his co-travellers.
“Tinubu’s errand boys lobbied, wished and prayed this defection never happened. But Kwankwaso knows the country is bleeding, the citizens are dieing, the living are in dire need of help and the only way to oust Tinubu and his unpopular government is through a coalition movement,” Eze said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
“I equally applauded Kwankwaso for making the right decision to join the ADC, a party that parades most of Nigeria’s cerebral, strategic, popular and grassroots-oriented politicians as members”.
“By joining the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; erstwhile governor of Rivers State, Barr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi; former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, etc, Kwankwaso has further placed Tinubu on Aso Rock’s exit corridor.
“Tinubu has through his abysmal performance in this winding up four years, made it easier for ADC, as a viable alternative to take over the mantle of democratic governance in Nigeria. We must not falter.
“As a party on a mission to rescue Nigerians, the ADC cannot afford to waste this glaring opportunity. We must unite ahead of our primaries to face the APC head on. Nigerians have placed hope on ADC, we must rise to the challenge and not disappoint.
“The defection of His Excellency, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso to ADC is highly commendable. With the calibre of arrow heads in the party, no doubt, Nigerians believe ADC is a disciplined mix of coalition-builders, with credibility and electoral value.”
