Dubai, Abu Dhabi, UAE News Updates: UAE Ministry of Defence said that it was dealing with incoming aerial threats from Iran as the war entered its 24th day on Monday (Mar 23). The authorities confirmed that the sounds heard were the result of air defence systems intercepting missiles and drones. “UAE air defences are currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran. MOD asserts that the sounds heard are the result of the Air Defence Systems intercepting missiles and drones,” the ministry said in a post on X.
Indian national injured from falling debris in Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed that an Indian national suffered minor injuries from falling debris after the UAE’s air defense systems intercepted a ballistic missile targeting the Al Shawamekh area. “Relevant authorities in Abu Dhabi have responded to an incident involving debris falling in the Al Shawamekh area following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defence systems. The incident resulted in a minor injury to an Indian national,” the Abu Dhabi Media Office said.

Iran threatens to strike Gulf energy, water systems: Iran warned that it will target energy and water facilities in the Gulf region if the United States hits its power grid. Tehran’s warning came after US President Donald Trump said Washington could attack Iran’s electricity infrastructure within 48 hours. “If Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked… all energy infrastructure… and water desalination facilities… will be targeted,” Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaqari said, according to Reuters.
UAE air defences engage 4 ballistic missiles: The UAE air defence systems engaged four Iranian ballistic missiles and 25 UAVs, launched on Sunday (Mar 22). Since the beginning of Iranian attacks, UAE air defences have engaged 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,773 UAVs. The attacks killed two members of the armed forces and resulted in six fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Palestinian nationalities. A total of 160 people have been wounded in the attacks, with “injuries ranging from minor to moderate and severe.” The injured include nationals of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.
