A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jumoke Akinjide, has resigned her membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Akinjide announced her resignation on Monday in a letter addressed to the PDP chairman in her ward in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In the letter, she said her decision followed personal reflection and would take effect immediately.

“I hereby formally give you notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” she stated.

“This decision was not taken lightly, given the fact that I have been a member of the party since 2001.”

Akinjide comes from a prominent political family. Her father, late Richard Akinjide, served as Minister of Justice during the administration of former President Shehu Shagari in the Second Republic.
