
The Member representing Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, on Tuesday, hosted his constituents resident in Abuja in an interactive engagement aimed at strengthening ties and presenting his stewardship scorecard.
The engagement, held under the auspices of the Ideato Peoples Assembly, took place at the National Assembly Complex and was themed “An Afternoon with Our Messenger”, brought together a cross-section of Ideato indigenes living in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), providing a platform for direct feedback and dialogue.
Addressing the gathering, Ugochinyere who’s the chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), showcased his scorecard, highlighting key achievements, completed and ongoing projects, scholarship schemes and legislative interventions targeted at improving the welfare of his constituents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects and sustaining effective representation in the House and beyond.
In their responses, the constituents expressed strong confidence in Ugochinyere’s leadership, commending his accessibility, performance, and dedication to the development of Ideato Federal Constituency.
Many reiterated their continued support, pledging their votes and backing for his future political endeavors.
Hon. Ugochinyere provided detailed updates on efforts already underway and outlined timelines for upcoming initiatives, assuring attendees that their concerns remaineed a top priority.
He emphasised the importance of unity among Ideato people both at home and in the diaspora, noting that sustainable development requires collective effort, trust, and continuous engagement.
According to him, “representation goes beyond the chamber; it is about staying connected to the people and responding to their needs at all times.”
The lawmaker also used the opportunity to announce plans for expanded empowerment programmes, including skills acquisition, support for small businesses, and increased educational interventions for students across the constituency.
Community leaders and stakeholders present at the meeting praised the initiative, describing it as a clear demonstration of responsive and accountable leadership.
They noted that such consistent engagement has strengthened confidence between the people and their representative.
Speaking on behalf of the Ideato Peoples Assembly, the President, Dr. Vin Igwilo, said the gathering concluded with renewed assurances of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing the progress and unity of Ideato Federal Constituency.
Dr. Igwilo specially thanked Ugochinyere for the opportunity to meet with him, noting that the delegation visited to hear directly from him on issues affecting the constituency.
“We acknowledge the good work you have done, and we want to make a request,” the group said. “The scholarship and empowerment initiatives are commendable, but we also desire support for agro-based industries to harness our palm produce.”
The delegation further expressed their determination to support Ugochinyere’s potential second term in the House of Representatives, saying it was time to break the so-called “jinx” that has historically prevented representatives from Ideato from securing a second tenure.
“We will start with Ikenga, and if he wishes, we believe he should be given the mandate for a second term,” they added.
