The Nigerian gospel music community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Onos Brisibi at the age of 55.

Her passing was confirmed by her family in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that she died on Tuesday, March 23, 2026, after battling an illness.

Onos Brisibi was widely respected for her powerful vocals and impactful contributions to gospel music in Nigeria. Over the years, she inspired many through her songs and ministry, earning a special place in the hearts of fans and fellow artists.

“Onos Nancy Brisibi was a devoted Christian, a gifted songstress, and a passionate praise and worship leader whose angelic voice touched many lives as she spread the gospel through music.

“She will be remembered as a beautiful, fun-loving woman with a heart of gold, whose faith, warmth, and kindness left lasting impressions on all who knew her,” the statement read in part.

Onos is survived by her daughter, Sarah Brisibi, her mother, siblings, extended family, friends, and her church family in LoveWorld Ministries.
