
Adamawa State Government in collaborations with UNICEF and other Development Partners in the Health sector, has flagg off National Immunization Plus Days, across all the 21 Local Governments and 226 electoral wards in the state targeting 1.4m children.
Flagging of the exercise at Atiku Abubakar Primary Health Care Clinic in Yola South Local Government, the council chairman represented by the vice chairman, Mrs. Sarah Nathan, highlighted the importance of immunization to the growth, development and survival of a child.
She called on the people especially parents and guardians to avail their children of the life saving opportunity to be immunized.
She commended UNICEF and other partners for their commitments and collaborations which have continued to change the narratives in the lives of the people of Adamawa state especially women and children whom she described as leaders of tomorrow whose health, growth and survival is very crucial.
He assured them of the council supports at all times.
Also speaking, UNICEF representative Oluseyi olosunde, said that the exercise is targeted at children from O to 5 years aimed at protecting them from polio and other child killer diseases to guarantee their growth.
He called on traditional rulers, especially village and district heads , religious leaders and other stakeholders to take the lead in mobilising their people.
He prevailed elon parents and guardians to avail their children and wards for immunization, reiterating the commitments of UNICEF to work with them to address challenges of non-compliance in their communities.
