Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of Roberto De Zerbi following the abrupt departure of Igor Tudor, in the latest upheaval of a turbulent season in north London.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Tudor’s spell lasted just 44 days. His exit was confirmed on 29 March after a string of damaging results dragged Spurs towards the bottom end of the Premier League table and intensified pressure from supporters and within the boardroom.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia on Monday claimed: “Roberto de Zerbi is open to joining Tottenham Hotspur as head coach now.”
The development signals a shift in stance from the Italian, who had been expected to wait until the summer before considering a return to management. Instead, he is now understood to be willing to take the role immediately as Spurs scramble for stability during the run-in.
De Zerbi has been out of work since leaving Olympique de Marseille in February. His attacking philosophy and reputation for improving struggling squads have placed him high on Tottenham’s shortlist.
Sources suggest there is a growing belief inside the club that an agreement could be reached before the season ends. Spurs are keen to restore confidence, steady performances and halt the slide that has been defined in recent weeks.
Supporters are desperate for clarity after a campaign marked by inconsistency and rapid change in the dugout. The next appointment is viewed as critical to both survival hopes and longer-term planning.
