Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen delayed his discharge from hospital after arm surgery because he wanted extended care to hasten his comeback for Galatasaray.

The claim was made by Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli, who said Victor Osimhen personally asked the club to keep him under medical supervision beyond the planned discharge date.

“Victor Osimhen underwent surgery last Monday morning. The public was informed that Osimhen would be discharged the following day,” Yürekli said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“However, Osimhen made a request to the administrators, saying, ‘I don’t want to be discharged; I want my care to continue here so I can return sooner.’

“A security guard was stationed outside his room, and even his immediate family wasn’t allowed in. He was discharged this afternoon.”

The Nigeria international suffered the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg defeat to Liverpool earlier this month in the UEFA Champions League.

With Osimhen sidelined, pressure has shifted to Mauro Icardi to lead the attack. Turkish pundit Levent Tüzemen urged the Argentine striker to step up in the Nigerian’s absence.

“Icardi, in Osimhen’s absence, must not just lend a hand but his whole body, carrying Galatasaray’s goalscoring burden,” Tüzemen said via Habersarikirmizi.

“I emphasize again, he owes a debt of gratitude to Okan Buruk and President Dursun Özbek, who have helped him through every family problem.

“He should apologize to his friends, the president, and the coach and return to Galatasaray with the title of goalscorer. Furthermore, the management should hold the agent accountable for his behaviour.”
