2027: Enugu monarchs endorse Mbah for 2nd term

All the traditional rulers in Enugu state have endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office come 2027.

The Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council made the endorsement at the House of Chiefs Chamber, Enugu State House of Assembly Complex during an interface with the state government and traditional rulers, where the monarchs expressed satisfaction with the administration’s performance.

The royal fathers pledged their continued support for government policies, particularly in maintaining peace in their communities and safeguarding public infrastructure.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, said that the royal fathers were united in their support for the governor, stressing that his performance justified their confidence.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. C.O.C. Egumgbe, said the administration had strengthened collaboration with traditional rulers and fulfilled key commitments, including the improvement of their welfare.

Egumgbe added that the endorsement was a voluntary decision by the monarchs, anchored on the governor’s performance and his commitment to grassroots development.

Responding on behalf of the governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, described the endorsement as a clear reflection of the people’s confidence in the administration, noting that the Mbah-led government has continued to deliver on its promises across critical sectors.
