Barely  two months after he defected from  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress APC in Adamawa state, in solidarity with Governor Fintiri, and two weeks after he officially declared his intention to vie for APC gubernatorial ticket, Mr. Maurice Vunulvoki on Tuesday announced his exit from the party.

Speaking at a press conference in Yola, Vunovolki who is the Adamawa State Cordinator of FGN/ world bank North East multi-sectoral crisis recovery project attributed his decision to failure of the party to uphold the principle of equity, fairness and internal  democracy promised them before joining the party.

He noted that a committee was recently set up by the Governor to produced a framework  for the ongoing party congreses and had as members the government favoured  aspirants for certain elective political offices  and these favoured aspirants  had clinically  manipulated the framework to favour their chances.

He said, “Recent happenings within the party and the Adamawa State Government circle further reinforced these concerns.

“There are credible and evidential  indications of irregular membership registrations using peoples NIN  without their consent aimed at having a  large mmembership voting population in Yola North ,and coordinate efforts to influence internal  process unfairly. ”

The gubernatorial hopeful further stressed that as a long standing participant in Nigeria’s political space,he recognise the signs of a system  that is tilting towards imposition rather than democratic choices.

He added that there is growing likelihood that decision will be made through manipulated consensus  rather than a transparent and credible process.

According to him, after extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state, he has no option  than to announced his resignation from APC with effects from yesterday Monday 13th April  to enable him pursue his aspiration under  a more credible and democratic platform where transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity would be guaranteed.

He urged his supporters across the 21 Local Governments of the state to also withdraw their membership from the APC  and await further guidance.
