Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has thrown his weight behind Michael Carrick, urging the club to consider him for the permanent managerial role.
Carrick, who took charge in January following Ruben Amorim’s departure, has impressed with seven wins and a single defeat from 10 matches. United now need four wins and a draw from their remaining seven games to secure a return to the Champions League after a two-year absence.
The club’s hierarchy remain cautious, with no decision expected until the end of the season. Options for a permanent appointment have narrowed, with Thomas Tuchel staying in England and Roberto De Zerbi choosing Tottenham.
Speaking from United’s four-day training camp in the Republic of Ireland, Amad said: “From a personal view he’s the right man. He has a lot of experience; he knows the club and has the DNA. His relationship with every player is very good. Sometimes this kind of manager can bring the club where they belong. It’s not the players who decide but my honest opinion is we’re really happy to have Michael Carrick as a manager.”
Support for Carrick extends beyond Diallo. Striker Bryan Mbeumo highlighted the connection between manager and squad: “We’ve got good experience with him. He knows how to talk to us and we’re going to try to take as much as we can from him. It’s been easier because he knows the place. It’s been great to work under him.”
