FC Barcelona are preparing for a major squad shake-up this summer, with midfielder Frenkie de Jong among a group of high-profile names expected to be moved on.
According to MARCA, the Dutch international tops a shortlist of players the club are willing to let go as part of a planned overhaul.
De Jong has long been central to Barcelona’s midfield, but repeated injury setbacks have raised fresh doubts about his long-term future. Despite being contracted until June 2029, his fitness record has become a growing concern inside the club.
This season alone, the 28-year-old has missed 11 matches through various injuries, including a hamstring problem that ruled him out for 45 days. With youngster Marc Bernal returning and De Jong among the club’s highest earners, the balance between value and availability is being questioned.
Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski is also moving towards the exit door. His current deal runs until June 2026, but Barcelona are reportedly open to offers as they look to refresh the squad and reduce wage commitments.
Forward Marcus Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United once his loan spell ends. His impact has been limited, particularly during the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League, making a permanent stay unlikely.
Defender Andreas Christensen has been out since December with an ACL injury, while academy graduate Marc Casado has slipped down the pecking order under manager Hansi Flick after struggling for consistent minutes.
