A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to disclose the reason behind the removal of the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.
NAIJAONPOINT reports that Tinubu, on Tuesday, relieved Edun of his duties and named Taiwo Oyedele as his replacement.
The presidency, however, did not provide any explanation for the sudden cabinet reshuffle.
Reacting via his official Facebook page, Melaye questioned whether Edun’s removal was linked to his alleged inability to conceal misappropriated funds.
He wrote, “Mr President, when ministers are removed in civilised climes, the government must explain the reason behind such decisions.
“Was the Minister of Finance sacked because he could not cover up the alleged 24 billion dollars (34 trillion naira) diverted from our revenue? The World Bank does not lie. SDM.”
