
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and immediate past President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, have rejoiced with Christians, on Sunday on the occasion of Easter, urging all Nigerians to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the transformation of the country.
The duo in separate statements signed by their media Advisers, urged Christians to imbibe the selfless attributes displayed by Jesus Christ.
Specifically, Barau in his statement signed by Mudashir Ismail, said as the Christian faithful celebrate Easter, it was important to remember the essence of Easter, which is the recognition of the love, sacrifice, and suffering Jesus Christ bore for Christendom.
“Love and tolerance should prevail above violence, killings, agitations, and other divisive tendencies.
“In our collective efforts to progress as a nation, we must all rise above our perceived differences. Only love and tolerance will make us a great nation,” he said.
He therefore, urged all Nigerians to sustain their abiding faith in God and to promote peace, love, unity, and virtues that enhance the country’s progress just as he used the opportunity to seek the continuous prayers and support of Nigerians for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as he steers the ship of the Nigerian state towards progress and prosperity.
In his own message, Senator Ahmad Lawan said since Easter symbolises the ultimate act of love, It calls on us to rise above divisions, embrace forgiveness, and renew our commitment to one another.
“In the face of the recent crises arising from the spate of insecurity in parts of our nation, there is a pressing need to reflect properly on the imperative of peaceful coexistence. Without peace, our economic and security challenges cannot be surmounted; without unity, our progress remains fragile.
“Let us pray for our President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our leaders, our troops on the frontlines, and every Nigerian striving for a better tomorrow,” he said.
