
Edo state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, alongside the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo state council, has condoled with the deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, over the death of his mother, Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa, who passed on at the age of 95.
Governor Okpebholo, who paid a condolence visit to the deputy governor, described the death of the matriarch as painful but inevitable, noting that she lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation.
He thanked God for her longevity and the legacy she left behind through her children.
“Your mother lived a good and fulfilled life, and having successful children like you shows she lived well.
“Death is inevitable; it is a debt we all must pay. Only God can console the family,” the governor said.
Responding, Idahosa appreciated the governor for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of genuine concern and leadership, especially as it came less than 24 hours after the passing of his mother.
In a related development, the Correspondents’ Chapel of the state NUJ, in a statement, signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Patrick Ochoga and Patrick Ahanor, respectively, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the late matriarch.
The Chapel described the deceased as a woman of remarkable virtue, whose life was marked by service, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family and community.
It noted that her longevity and impactful life reflected strong values, evident in the lives of her children and all who came in contact with her.
