Edo targets education reform with N2bn university investment

‎The Edo state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Tuesday approved a N2 billion grant for Edo University, Iyamho, to support infrastructural development.

‎The governor also announced an increase in the institution’s monthly subvention from N100 million to N250 million to enhance its operational capacity and improve learning conditions.

‎He said the state government would not hesitate to support initiatives that promote educational development.
‎Okpebholo stated this Tuesday during the commissioning of the Ehi Aganmonmen Business Administration E-Library, Fitness Centre and a new university health cfentre.

‎He described the projects as a major step towards repositioning the education sector, noting that they reflect his administration’s commitment to academic excellence and improved healthcare delivery within tertiary institutions.

‎Okpebholo further acknowledged contributions from other stakeholders, including a parent who sponsored the architectural designs and the vice-chancellor, Prof. Adetimirin, who donated one month’s salary to support the projects.

‎He called on corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to partner with government in driving development, adding that government alone cannot meet all societal needs.
