Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a suspected fraudster, Osagie Destiny Etinosa, over an alleged N11 million scam.
The EFCC said the suspect was apprehended following intelligence gathered through open-source investigations.
According to the Commission, Etinosa allegedly posed as a football agent on Instagram using the handle @officialking_etto, claiming to facilitate trials and recruitment opportunities for players in foreign clubs.
In one of the cases under investigation, the suspect reportedly collected N11 million from a victim, Samuel Beke Ohazuruike, with a promise to secure football trials in clubs in Romania and Bulgaria.
The EFCC said the promised opportunities never materialised, while efforts by the victim to recover the money were unsuccessful.
The anti-graft agency added that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Dele Oyewale, Head, Media & Publicity, disclosed this in a statement on April 8, 2026.
