The federal government has pledged to restore security in Zamfara state.

Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, assured residents Monday that ongoing efforts to combat banditry in the North-West will soon yield results.

He gave the assurance during an APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Gusau.

“The federal government is deploying all necessary mechanisms to fight banditry affecting the North-west.

“We are committed to ensuring peace and normalcy return to all affected states,”   Matawalle said.

He urged APC members and stakeholders in Zamfara state to remain united, adding that cohesion is critical to achieving political and developmental goals.

“No meaningful development can be achieved in any political party without unity among its members,” he said.

The minister described the stakeholders’ meeting as a yardstick for addressing disunity within the party, adding that reconciliation efforts would be intensified ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a notable political declaration, Matawalle pledged his support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Zamfara governor, Dauda Lawal to secure second terms in 2027.
