Former governor of Benue state, Senator Gabriel Suswam, on Thursday called on party members and citizens to unite behind the current administration, pledging full support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Suswam also said the state was now locked down for support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia and  all APC aspirants who might emerge in the forthcoming primary election in the state.

Speaking during his visit to the APC secretariat in Makurdi, Suswam emphasised the importance of collective action, urging stakeholders to back the governor, the president, and the party’s broader vision.

“We did join this party believing that it is for the best interest of the Benue people, for Nigeria, and for the APC as a party,” he said.

Suswam highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the completion of underpasses and continuation of initiatives started by previous administrations, as evidence of the governor’s commitment to development.

He praised the president’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, describing them as courageous measures aimed at building a stronger future economy despite short-term challenges.

The former governor stressed that Benue State was “completely locked down” in support of the president, governor, and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 elections, noting that such unity would secure greater political positions and benefits for the state.

Comrade Benjamin Omale, who also addressed the gathering, commended Suswam’s decision to align with the APC and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to deliver visible achievements.

He urged members to remain united and focused on strengthening the party’s base ahead of the next electoral cycle.

He said the visit was a significant show of solidarity, with Suswam reaffirming his loyalty to the APC and pledging to work alongside the governor to ensure democratic dividends reached the people of Benue.
