In a heartening display of grassroots political awareness, the Joint Concerned Youths of Gulani Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe state have gathered at a town hall meeting in Bara to honour emerging political figure Mohammed A. Maina, who they recognised as the embodiment of rising political consciousness among young people in the area.

The event, convened under the leadership of Idris Garba Gulani (Zannah Dallatu of Gulani), brought together energetic youths from all 12 wards of the LGA.

Beyond celebrating Mohammed A. Maina’s growing influence and community engagements, the meeting served as a major platform to deliberate on youth participation and inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

Participants engaged passionately on civic responsibility, political awareness, and the critical role of young people in shaping future leadership.

They described the forum as a timely intervention that strengthens grassroots participation in democratic processes and encourages informed political engagement.

The youths emphasised that sustainable development in Gulani depends on increased civic awareness and active youth involvement in governance structures.

They called on stakeholders to create more platforms for dialogue, leadership development, and political education at the grassroots level.

In a remarkable show of unity and commitment, the young people collectively contributed three million naira (₦3,000,000) to support continued civic engagement activities and organisational logistics for youth-driven initiatives in the area.

Participants described the gesture as a powerful reflection of their shared resolve to strengthen youth participation in democratic governance.

The gathering also reaffirmed their dedication to peaceful participation in the electoral process, stressing the importance of issue-based engagement and responsible political conduct as the 2027 elections approach.

The town hall meeting concluded on a high note with calls for unity, peaceful engagement, and continuous civic education among youths across the LGA.
