Hate-Motivated Assault Investigated At Vaughan Synagogue North Of Toronto

York Regional Police are investigating a suspected hate-motivated assault after a man allegedly attempted to force his way into the Sephardic Kehila Centre in Vaughan, Ontario, just north of Toronto, on Shabbos morning.

Police say the incident happened at around 9:35 a.m. at the synagogue. According to investigators, the suspect tried to enter the building and assaulted a victim before fleeing the scene. Police said no injuries were reported.

Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca called the incident “deeply disturbing” and urged anyone with information to come forward.
