The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded zero road traffic crashes involving articulated vehicles along the Kugbo outbound corridor since the launch of Operation Safe Kugbo on 18 March 2026.
The result marks a significant milestone in traffic safety enforcement within the Federal Capital Territory.
The Corps stated this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Osondu Ohaeri, in Abuja Sunday.
He said a total of 858 articulated vehicles and trucks have been restricted from operating on the corridor during peak traffic hours as part of the ongoing exercise, a move credited with the improved safety record.
The success of the operation is anchored on the strategic directive of the Corps Marshal, in line with the provisions of the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR), particularly Section 223, as well as the FCT Traffic Regulations. The initiative also supports the FRSC’s 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal 1, which targets a substantial reduction in road traffic crashes nationwide.
At the operational level, the Unit Commander, RS7.13 Nyanya, CRC WF Luka, is leading enforcement efforts through coordinated patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, and real-time traffic control during peak periods to ensure strict compliance.
