The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has clarified that he remains interested and very much in the race for the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 election.
The Minister, however, debunked earlier claims about resigning from the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu, clarifying that the earlier resignation letter, which went viral on social media, is fake.
Speaking during a chat with Channels Television, Adelabu said the public would be duly informed about his plans, and it would be with the consent of President Tinubu.
He added that at the moment, he remains committed to his assignment in the government.
“Of course, yes, I am very much in the race.
“But I will act at the appropriate time, and you will be duly informed, but will be with the consent of Mr President.
“For now, I’m committed to my present assignment. It’s still about service, whether national or sub-national,” Adelabu submitted.
Earlier, the Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media to the Minister of Power, Bolaji Tunji, had dismissed reports claiming that Adebayo Adelabu had resigned from his position.
Tunji described the reports as fake, stating that the minister remains focused on delivering on his mandate as Minister of Power.
Speaking in a telephone interview with TVC, Tunji said the minister had not submitted any resignation letter and urged those spreading the report to desist from circulating false information.
He noted that a purported resignation letter dated March 26, 2026, allegedly written by Adelabu to President Bola Tinubu, has been trending on social media.
In the letter, the minister was said to have resigned to pursue his ambition of contesting for the office of Governor of Oyo State.
