The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Tuesday called on community leaders in Ibadanland to be vigilant about what is happening in their environment.
Speaking at the installation of Mogajis and Baales in Ibadanland held at the Olubadan palace, Oja’ba, Ibadan, Oba Ladoja specifically asked the new Mogajis and Baales to take the security of their communities very seriously.
Oba Ladoja declared that this became necessary in view of the fact that “one of the greatest challenges facing Nigeria is the issue of security.
“As family compound and community heads at Ibadan city, I am sure you are aware that one of the greatest challenges facing Nigeria is the issue of security.
“As grassroots leaders, you need to be vigilant about what is happening in your environment. If it were for glamour alone, this installation exercise would not have been necessary. But, it is well because of the responsibility attached to it that we are here to formalise your appointment as Mogajis and Baales”.
Oba Ladoja maintained that security is everybody’s business and that the newly appointed chiefs should share information, collaborate and network with their next door neighbours on how best to ensure the safety and security of lives and property of the people under their watch.
