Esmaeil Baqaei, Head of the Centre for Public Diplomacy and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, issued a statement on X, following the meeting with the JD Vance-led US delegation.

Iran said that diplomacy, for us, is a continuation of the sacred jihad of the defenders of the Iranian homeland. Iran said that it has not forgotten, and will not forget, the experience of America’s broken promises and ill intentions.

We will never forgive the heinous crimes committed by them and the Zionist regime during the second and third imposed wars, the statement read.
Today was a long and busy day for the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad. Intensive negotiations, which began on Saturday morning with Pakistan’s good offices and mediation, have continued without interruption until now, with numerous messages and texts exchanged between the two parties, the post read.

The spokesperson said that the Iranian negotiators are drawing upon all their capabilities, experience, and expertise to safeguard Iran’s rights and interests.

“The heavy grief over our great figures, our dear ones, and our compatriots has made our resolve to pursue the rights and interests of the Iranian people firmer than ever”, said Iran.

The statement invoked ‘Iranian Civilisation’ and said that nothing can or should prevent us from pursuing our great historic mission toward our beloved homeland and the noble Iranian civilisation. The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to use all tools, including diplomacy, to secure national interests and protect the country’s welfare.

Over the past 24 hours, discussions covered various dimensions of the main negotiation topics, including the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear issue, war reparations, the lifting of sanctions, and the complete ending of the war against Iran and in the region.

Iran asserted that the success of this diplomatic process is contingent upon the seriousness and good faith of the other party, its refraining from excessive demands and unlawful requests, and its acceptance of Iran’s legitimate rights and lawful interests.
