MB Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said two measures mutually agreed upon by the parties have yet to be implemented, stressing that they must be fulfilled before negotiations can begin.

In a statement, Ghalibaf said the pending steps include a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets. According to him, these measures were part of prior understandings between the sides but have not yet been carried out.

He emphasised that the two conditions are essential before the commencement of any talks. The first requirement is a ceasefire in Lebanon, which he said remains unimplemented despite earlier agreements. The second condition involves the release of Iran’s blocked assets, which Ghalibaf said must take place prior to the start of negotiations.

Ghalibaf reiterated that both measures were mutually agreed upon by the parties involved. However, he noted that the lack of implementation has delayed the process of initiating negotiations.

He said the fulfilment of these commitments is necessary to move forward, adding that talks cannot begin unless the ceasefire in Lebanon is enforced and Iran’s blocked assets are released as previously agreed.

Ghalibaf stressed that the two steps must be completed first before negotiations can proceed.
