Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The affected lawmakers were Sani Wakili, representing Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency; Muktar Zakari, representing Tarauni Federal Constituency; Umar Datti, representing Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam Federal Constituency, and Abdulhakeem Ado, representing Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency.
Their defection notices were formally read on the floor of the House during Wednesday’s plenary by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, in line with parliamentary procedure.
The development marked another political shift within the lower legislative chamber, where party loyalty continued to evolve amid ongoing political recalibrations across the country ahead the 2027 elections.
