The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against kidnapping and violent crimes, arresting no fewer than 41 suspects and rescuing seven kidnapped victims between March and April 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Monday.
Muhammad attributed the successes to intelligence-driven operations and sustained crackdowns on criminal networks across the state.
According to him, the command also recovered 24 firearms, 200 rounds of live ammunition, and 50 rustled cows within the period under review.
“These achievements underscore our resolve to rid Kaduna State of criminal elements and ensure the safety of all residents,” he said.
Highlighting some of the breakthroughs, the police commissioner said a suspected gunrunner, Samaila Ilyasu, was arrested in Kagarko Local Government Area, where 20 locally fabricated Dane guns were recovered.
He added that operatives also apprehended several suspected kidnappers and informants in Makarfi, Kachia, Giwa, and Kauru local government areas.
Muhammad further revealed that two suspects linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating in the Kubau Local Government Area were arrested during a joint operation involving the Civilian Joint Task Force.
He noted that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
NOP NIGERIA reports that in another operation, detectives intercepted a consignment of 200 rounds of live ammunition hidden in a sack of guinea corn.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects from Zamfara State.
Notorious Gang Member Arrested
The police boss also disclosed the arrest of a suspected notorious drug dealer and gang member identified simply as “Shanuna,” who had allegedly been terrorising residents of the Rigasa area in Kaduna metropolis.
On cattle rustling, Muhammad said two suspects were arrested in connection with the theft of 20 cows in Soba and Giwa local government areas.
He added that additional arrests were made involving kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates across the state.
The command also busted a gang involved in motorcycle snatching and arrested suspected receivers of stolen items, recovering a TVS motorcycle.
The commissioner attributed the achievements to the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Disu, as well as the support of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
Muhammad urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring that the command would sustain its operations until all criminal networks in the state are dismantled.
He reiterated the commitment of the police to safeguarding lives and property across Kaduna State.
