Kebbi assembly speaker Ankwe laid to rest in Zuru

The body of the late speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Ankwe, was Thursday interred in his home town, Zuru.

His remains arrived from Cairo, Egypt, where he passed away to Zuru, en route Abuja.

The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Zuru, Liman Suleiman Tanko, and was attended by hundreds of thousands of mourners, including, Governor Nasir Idris, and the deputy governor, Sen. Umar Abubakar Tafida.

The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Sami Gomo the third, national and state assembly members, government functionaries, the political class, businessmen, and other personalities from all walks of life, were among sympathisers at the internment.

Also present were former governors of the state, Sen. Muhammadu Adamu Alieru and Amb. Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi and Kebbi APC chairman, Abubakar Muhammadu Kana Zuru.

Late Ankwe represents Zuru constituency in the Kebbi House of Assembly.

He died of a prolonged illness at age 56.
