Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, convened a high-level emergency meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and representatives of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) to tackle the sharp surge in Jet A1 fuel prices.

The meeting was held against the backdrop of mounting anxiety in the aviation industry, where operators have warned that the relentless rise in aviation fuel costs is pushing many airlines toward unsustainable operations.

Airlines have explicitly threatened to shut down services if decisive steps are not taken urgently to stabilise prices and avert widespread disruptions.

Discussions focused on both short-term interventions to ease immediate pressure and long-term strategies to resolve the pricing crisis, with all parties working to prevent a potential strike that could ground flights across the country.
