Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has declared his side Europe’s form team as the French champions gear up for a heavyweight Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich.
Speaking on Monday, April 27, before the showdown at the Parc des Princes, the PSG boss made a bold claim about his squad’s standing on the continent.
“These are the two best teams in Europe, even if Arsenal have also had a great season,” the Spanish coach told reporters. “In terms of consistency, maybe Bayern are a little bit above us. But we have shown that no team is better than us.”
PSG head into the tie chasing history after lifting the UEFA Champions League for the first time last season. The Parisians are now in the semi-finals for a third consecutive year under Luis Enrique and are aiming to retain the trophy.
Their route to the last four has been emphatic, with victories over Chelsea and Liverpool in the previous rounds.
“It is a real pleasure and it is deserved. You need to be ambitious to get to this stage and I think we are. We still want to go that bit further,” Luis Enrique said.
Recent meetings between the clubs demonstrated how finely balanced the clash could be. Bayern won 1-0 at home in the league phase in November 2024.
PSG responded with a 2-0 win in the Club World Cup quarter-final in the United States in July 2025. The Germans then recorded a 2-1 win in Paris later in the league phase.
PSG have also received encouraging news on the injury front. Portuguese midfielder Vitinha returned to training after missing the last two matches.
“Everyone is ready,” the coach added after Fabián Ruiz made his first start in three months during a 3-0 win over Angers in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
