


A suspected airstrike on Jilli village in Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe state has reportedly left many dead and injured, triggering chaos at a crowded market on Saturday.




The attack is said to have struck during peak trading hours, sending residents fleeing in panic, according to local witnesses.
Medical staff at Geidam Specialist Hospital have confirmed that the Accident and Emergency unit is treating numerous wounded individuals.
Two patients in critical condition have been transferred to the University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu, Yobe state capital for specialised care.
Rescue teams continue to evacuate victims from the site, while distraught families search for missing relatives amid growing fears of further casualties.
The village remains in shock as emergency responders work to manage the aftermath, Blueprint.ng reports.
No official statement has been issued by authorities so far, and more details are expected as investigations proceed.
An effort to reach the new Public Relations Officer at the Headquarters of Sector 2 NE OPHK, Ibrahim Bishir Kaita, for comment on the development was unsuccessful, as his phone is not connecting.
