Former Labour Party (LP) Vice Presidential Candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has explained why he decided not to become part of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while addressing the backlash that followed his decision.
Speaking on Channels Television interview, he admitted that many people reacted strongly after hearing that he would not be joining the party. He said he felt the need to clear the air because some people misunderstood his reasons and believed his decision was meant to offend members of the party.
NOP NIGERIA reports that he explained that his choice was based on his own plans and careful thinking about his political path. According to him, the decision had nothing to do with anger, dislike, or disrespect toward the party or those connected to it.
He added that political choices are often complicated and are usually made after considering many factors that may not always be visible to the public.
He said: “I do apologize, I’m not able to join the ADC and it’s nothing personal. I gave my reasons for not joining them, many of them took offense, many of them took it personal and I apologize.”
Meanwhile the former Senator has concluded plans to dump the Labour Party (LP) and join the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
According to him, the decision to defect to PRP follows internal disagreements within the Labour Party, which he said has drifted from its original ideals.
