In a video circulating online, former Senior .... Special Assistant (SSA) to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, along with his team, met with the victim’s mother, who could not hold back tears while recounting her ordeal.
According to her, the pain she is currently enduring is not new, insisting that Oghenemine was her second son to be killed in circumstances involving police officers.
“My two children were killed by the police,” she lamented. “They first took my son in 2022, and now they have taken another one from me again. How do I survive this?”
Police authorities had earlier confirmed that the officer was taken into custody after the musician was shot during an operation by operatives attached to the Area Command, Effurun.
According to the Command, the team had acted on intelligence about a suspect allegedly in possession of a firearm.
Although the Police maintained that the suspect, identified in their report as Mene Ogidi, was apprehended with a Beretta pistol and ammunition, a viral video circulating on social media has generated criticism and sparked debates about police brutality in Nigeria.
