Nigeria and Denmark have stepped up joint efforts to combat piracy, oil theft and other maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea.
This follows a high-level visit by a Danish Defence delegation to the Western Naval Command in Lagos.
Leader of the delegation, Marie van der Heijden, reaffirmed Denmark’s support through training, technical assistance and advisory programmes to boost regional maritime capacity.
Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Naval Staff, said the Nigerian Navy remains committed to leveraging technology, intelligence sharing and coordinated operations with global partners to secure vital sea routes.
Both sides also explored joint exercises, personnel exchanges and logistics support to strengthen interoperability, underscoring a shared resolve to safeguard the region’s maritime domain.
