Operatives of the Lagos state Police command Thursday arrested three suspected armed robbers linked to a string of attacks in an estate in Sangotedo, Lagos, following a swift response to distress calls from residents.

The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, stated this in a statement, Thursday, identifying the suspects as Balogun Teslim, Suleman Balogun and Peter Oluwagbemi. The trio was apprehended in connection with robbery incidents that occurred on April 11 and April 13, 2026.

The statement said police recovered a cache of incriminating items from the suspects, including a locally made pistol loaded with six rounds of live 9mm ammunition, two black face masks, a hammer, ropes, a large roll of cellophane tape, two black jackets, and a pair of pliers believed to have been used in carrying out the attacks.

“Before the arrival of law enforcement, the suspects were reportedly mobbed by members of the public. They were later rescued by police operatives and rushed to a medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment,” Adebisi stated.

She added that preliminary investigations have yielded significant breakthroughs, with two of the suspects confessing to the crime and identifying one Kinsley now at large as the alleged gang leader. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and dismantle the criminal network.
