The Oyo State Police have arrested some suspected kidnappers, ritualists and armed robbers.
The command said the suspects were arrested at different times and different locations within the state and that some items were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
Commissioner of Police in Oyo, Abimbola Olugbenga, gave the details while addressing a press conference in Ibadan on Thursday, noting that the suspects confessed to the various crimes.
He said that investigations are still ongoing to arrest more suspects, adding that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Olugbenga said, “On 24h February, 2026, a case involving removal of vehicles from where parked was transferred from Ojoo Division, to Monitoring Unit of the Oyo State Police Command with one Adegboyega Joseph as a suspect. During the investigation, nine (9) Toyota Cars Keys were recovered as exhibit. Further discreet investigation later led to the arrest of one suspected receiver who later identified himself as Adebayo Muideen.
“One suspect, Adeyemi Abiodun, was arrested and one pump-action gun, six life cartridges, two expended cartridges, phones and other valuable items were recovered from his possession.
Upon interrogations, the suspect confessed to having been part of a series of armed robbery operations masterminded at different locations within Ibadan and its environs. A combined team of policemen from Command Monitoring Unit and Akobo Division, subsequently stormed their criminal hide-out and arrested three other members of the syndicate namely: Olaoluwa Ponle ‘M’ (2) Ahmed Ismaila and Gbolabo Adisa.
“On 14th April, 2026, upon credible intelligence, one Alfa Egbinola Tijani a suspected ritualist was arrested at Ogbere Tioya area, Ibadan. His confession led to the arrest of Alawiye Lateef Abaniseloluwa Abass and Kehinde Ajao at different locations within Ibadan.
“On 20TH January, 2026, six members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate, reportedly armed with AK-47 riffles, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, invaded the residence of one Supodu Saheed at Baabi village via Oyo town in Oyo State.”
