President of Russia Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call on Wednesday that lasted more than 90 minutes, according to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov. The discussion was described as friendly and businesslike.

During the call, Putin condemned the attempted assassination on Trump, Ushakov said.

The two leaders also discussed Iran, with Putin putting forward ideas on its nuclear programme and expressing support for Trump’s decision to extend the Iran ceasefire, according to the Kremlin readout.
On Ukraine, Trump reportedly said a settlement to the conflict was close. Putin proposed a temporary ceasefire during May Victory Day commemorations, which Trump responded to positively, the aide added. Putin also accused Ukraine of using “terrorist methods,” Ushakov said.
