Managers and heads of the eastern ports of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) have restated their resolve to partner with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria and other stakeholders for the development of the ports.

 This commitment was given by Mrs. Edith Kelechi Okezie, Manager, Port Harcourt Port, Wednesday at the inaugural Eastern Port Joint District Council 2026.

Mrs. Edith Okezie said she attached high value to every stakeholder in the development of the port and urged the union to contribute its quota through dedicated service aimed at making them stand out as a key zone in Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA).

In his address at the event, the president of NPA branch of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Ajayi Bamidele Alex, represented by Comrade Fagbemi Olakunle, expressed the hope that the resolutions that would emanate from the meeting would be instrumental in the search to achieve higher efficiency and productivity.

He added that “punctuality and dedication to duty remain the foundation for progress, saying the union remains fully committed to its responsibilities, uplift and contribute to the growth of the port operations.”
