Sanwo-Olu Names Bamgbala, Olaleye, 3 Others LG Service Commission + Other Appointments

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the nomination of five members into the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots administration and improving service delivery across the state’s councils.

The nominations were conveyed in a circular dated Thursday, 16 April, 2026, issued by the Office of the Head of Service at Alausa, Ikeja, as part of efforts to ensure the smooth and effective running of statutory commissions.

The nominees are former Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area, Honourable Hakeem Adisa Bamgbala; ex-Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Honourable Yinka Mursiq Durosinmi; former Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Honourable Shamusudeen Abiodun Olaleye; Mr. Ahmed Seriki; and former Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Mrs. Folashade Olabanji are to serve as members, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly in line with extant laws.

According to the circular, the appointments form part of broader reforms to reinforce institutional capacity within the local government system, which plays a critical role in delivering essential services to residents at the grassroots.

The state Head of Service, Bode Agoro, explained that the nomination process aligns with statutory provisions guiding the composition of the commission, noting that the appointments will only take effect upon legislative approval.

He stated, “In line with the laws that established the Commissions, it should be noted that the nominations of members for appointment into both Audit Service Commission and Local Government Service Commission are subject to the confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

In addition to the Local Government Service Commission nominees, the Governor also approved appointments into the Audit Service Commission and the Health Service Commission, with the latter taking immediate effect from Thursday, 16 April, 2026.

Agoro urged accounting officers and relevant authorities to give the circular wide publicity to ensure compliance and awareness across the public service.

“Accounting Officers are to note the contents of this Circular and give it the deserved service-wide publicity,” he said, while wishing all appointees a successful tenure.

Nominated into the state Audit Service Commission are: Mrs Kikelomo Arinola Dawodu; Mrs Bukola Ogunnowo; Ms Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona; Mr Bowale Shosimi; and Mr Sunday Kappo.

Nominees into the Health Service Commission are: Dr Olukayode Olumuyiwa Oguntimehin; Dr Olusegun Abayomi Ogboye; Dr Omolaja Olushola Odunuga; Pharm (Dr) Moyosore Wuraola Adejumo; and Dr (Mrs) Ololade Omotayo Fadipe.
