An aspirant for the Kaduna South Senatorial District seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Ciroma Almajiri Joseph, has withdrawn from the race and declared support for the incumbent senator, Sunday Marshall Katung.

Joseph, popularly known as Hasken Southern Kaduna, announced his decision in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the move followed extensive consultations with family members, political associates, community leaders, friends and supporters across the senatorial district.

He said he was stepping down from the aspiration to support Senator Katung’s bid for a second term in office.

According to him, the decision was informed by patriotism, political maturity and the need to preserve unity within the APC in Southern Kaduna.

Joseph said his longstanding relationship with Katung, which he noted had spanned over 35 years, could not be sacrificed on the altar of political ambition.

“This decision is borne out of patriotism, team spirit & sportsmanship, political maturity, strategic foresight, and an unwavering commitment to the unity of the APC family in Southern Kaduna,” he said.

He added that the decision was also aimed at consolidating what he described as the gains already recorded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani and Senator Katung.

Joseph specifically cited the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, alongside other people-oriented interventions across the district.

He expressed appreciation to his supporters across Southern Kaduna for what he described as their steadfast loyalty, trust and prayers.

The former aspirant called on his supporters to align with him in backing Katung’s second-term bid.

“Therefore, I am calling on all my teeming and esteemed supporters across the Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, to join me in throwing our support behind SMK for the actualization of his second-term bid,” he said.

Joseph also reaffirmed his loyalty to the people of Southern Kaduna and the APC, pledging to continue his humanitarian and philanthropic activities across the zone.
