A wave of fake news circulating on social media falsely claimed that former Gombe state governor and a serving All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, Danjuma Goje, is set to defect to the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
But in a press statement signed and made available to journalists Wednesday, special assistant to Senator Goje, Ahmed Isa Kashere, debunked the claim, describing it as a “baseless disinformation orchestrated by Goje’s political opponents.”
Kashere pointed out that Goje recently attended the APC’s national convention and has been actively participating in party activities at the national level, demonstrating his commitment to the ruling party.“Senator Goje has not quit the APC, nor does he intend to. This disinformation is nothing but mischief from those who seek to undermine his reputation and contributions to the party,” the aide stated.
