The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) weekend urged President Bola Tinubu to investigate alleged missing or diverted N2.9 billion from Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) and Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA).
In a letter dated April 11, 2026, signed by its deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP urged President Tinubu to direct the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani and the agencies’ management to explain the alleged discrepancies.
It also called on the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and anti-corruption agencies to probe the matter and recover the missing funds.
The allegations, documented in the Auditor-General’s 2025 report, include an unauthorised N465 million investment by NIGCOMSAT, payments without due process, unremitted revenues exceeding N507 million, and unrecovered debts of over N1.6 billion just as several expenditures lacked documentation, raising concerns of diversion.
Similarly, NNRA has been accused of multiple irregular payments, including funds for unverified training, unsupplied equipment, and unretired cash advances between 2021 and 2022.
SERAP stated that the issues reflect systemic mismanagement, opacity and potential corruption in critical institutions responsible for Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and nuclear safety. It warned that failure to act could erode public trust, weaken anti-corruption efforts, and hinder national development.
